While there are still some warm weeks left in the summer, fall is coming soon. Depending on the weather patterns, you can need your air conditioner in the fall months. But even if you don’t, you want to make sure that it works right when things warm up again in the spring. That’s why we recommend A/C maintenance to prepare for the fall.
A/C Maintenance – Fall Preparation
Here are a few things you can do to get your A/C ready for fall:
1. Change your air filter.
If you read our blog much, you may think that we sound like a broken record when it comes to air filters. That’s because it’s the easiest thing you can do to keep your HVAC system running properly. You don’t need a technician to come out and do it – at least most people don’t – so it’s also very affordable. If you run your air conditioner much this summer, you will likely need to change the air filter anyway.
2. Clean up the space around your outside unit.
Summer is a time when many plants grow like crazy. Unfortunately, all that growth can cause problems with your HVAC system. If plants have grown up around and maybe even into your external unit, you need to remove them. The end of summer is a good time to cut them all back before they die and harden up.
3. Vacuum out your vents and grills.
Vents and grills tend to get dirty over time. One of the easiest ways to clean them is with a vacuum cleaner attachment. If you have an extension with a brush, you can brush the vents and suck out the dust and grime. Doing so will help with airflow into your home and will also improve the air quality each time your HVAC unit runs.
Consider an HVAC Tune-Up!
Although the above steps will definitely help prep your air conditioner for the fall, a professional tune-up is even better. We can make sure that your system is running as optimally as possible. Our professionals can also help to identify any potential problems that could arise in the near future. For instance, we can spot upcoming failures so you can fix them now.
